Today I wanted to share with you all a personal experience I had in the beginning of my walk with God that changed the way I looked at things, and it opened my perspective a lot. It thought me that things aren’t always as they seem, there is always another way to look at them, another perspective, and what I like to call a higher reality.

I was on a plane going to Zurich Switzerland. I was by myself, my husband was already there, working, and I was going to meet with him and tag along for the week.

Sitting in the plane, when we were about to arrive, the pilot announced we would have some turbulence before landing, and probably a rough landing, because the weather was very foggy at Zurich.

So I open the window, and I see this:

This is the actual picture I took that day. I looked for it to share with you all. I did not see bad weather. I saw the fluffy white clouds make a beautiful carpet underneath me and a sunny gorgeous day! I thought to myself… What is he talking about bad weather? It’s sunny and beautiful!

As I thought that, the pilot repeated: The weather in Zurich is very bad, please put on your seat belts and prepare for a little turbulence.

I am not one of those that are terrified of flying or turbulence, it doesn’t bother me at all. So I just I continued reading my bible, as I was doing before he interrupted my reading with the apparent non-sense bad weather. And I hear the Holy Spirit in my heart, and I heard (in my spirit) Him saying this verse to me, which I was not reading:

Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

I then asked what He meant with this verse in the context I was living and why is He bringing this up, if I was not even reading that.

He began to show me that His perspective of reality is very different from mine. He began to show me that in His reality there is no bad weather, there is no turbulence, there is no fear. He began to show me that from His lenses, all He sees, is the good, the beautiful and the gorgeous, just like I saw when I looked out of the window.

In that moment, a little baby believer, I understood the concept of HIGHER REALITY. It’s literally higher, as the heavens are higher than the earth, He is look from above, from a higher place.

He began to show me that His lenses, His view, His perspective, His higher reality was available for me, if I would choose it. And He said:

Ephesians 2:6 (adapted to how I heard it)
I have raised you up with Me and seated you with Me in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
And because of that, my daughter, you have a choice.

As if I am not in awe already, He continued:

- When you get down this plane, I want you to notice the weather. Take a picture and compare. Both pictures are reality. But one is earth reality, and the other is My reality, the higher reality I want you to live in. I am above it all, outside of time, and because of that, I can see it differently.

Being the practical person that I’d like to think I am, my first instinct was to ask Him how could I put to practice in my life what He was showing me. How do I choose His reality above the reality that may seem more “real” to me on earth?

And He answered:
- When you are facing a difficult time, when you are amid the storm, I want you to remember this picture. I want you to imagine yourself with Me in heavenly realms, and I want you to see the situation from my lenses, from my perspective, from above! Ask Me how I am seeing it if you don’t get it right away! I will always show you.

He continued to tell me that every promise He has made is already available to all who believe, but what we call reality keeps us from believing it.

Did you catch that? This is very profound. What we believe is reality here on earth, our problems, difficult relationships, complicated circumstance—keep us from believing, and therefore LIVING His Higher reality for our lives. And ALL His promises are in His higher reality. It’s the realm of AMEN, when all promises are realized! Mind blowing!

Needless to say I didn’t even notice any turbulence or bad weather, because I was very engaged in this silent conversation I was having with my Father. The terminal we arrived in Zurich was one of those that the plane stops somewhere in the landing strip, they put a stairs on the side of the plane and you get down, and a bus comes to get you to take you to the gate. So when I got down, and got out of the plane, I noticed the weather.

This is the picture I took when I got out of the plane. As I had been instructed, I put the two pictures side by side. God continued to speak as to how I have a choice in the way I see things.

He said: What you see right now is very real. But so is what you saw above the clouds. Reality is always subject to the eyes of the one who sees. Whatever reality you choose will be YOUR REALITY.

Sometime after I went back home, some turbulence began to arise in my personal life. Would I not have had this experience, would this conversation not have happened, I am not sure how I would have been able to deal with it. Because of this experience, I knew for a fact that I could change my lenses and choose to see a different reality.

This experience not only prepared me for what was coming, but it prepared me for life! Never again did I look at reality the same way. Ever since this experience, every time I am faced with a challenge, I ask God to show me what it looks like from above the clouds. And He does. He is faithful! This has been the way I live. Choosing His perspective and His reality over what seems to be my own.

It has made me almost oblivious to the reality of the earth, as I shared in another story on the first chapter of The Pursuit of Freedom, but it sure made me more aware of His presence and His reality, and I will take that every day! I believe God wants to specifically show you a higher reality for some situations and circumstances you may be living in, and help you shift your perspective to His!
Things aren’t always what it seems.

There is always more than one way to look at the same situation. There is always a higher reality, a bigger picture! A more exciting perspective, all we have to do is believe it!

Look at both pictures side by side:

Same location! One is above the clouds, one is underneath. Which one is real? BOTH.

In Closing...

Things aren't always what they seem to be. We always have a choice on how we will look at things. We get to choose our reality! I choose Heaven’s perspective, what about you!?

Activation Time...

Get in a quiet place with God and think about a situation or a relationship, something in your life that you are not 100% happy with.

Ask God: Is there a different way to look at this? How do you see this situation? How do you see this person?

Wait for Him to peak to your heart. Write down any insights, any impressions, any visions you may have.

Spend a little more time in gratitude for His higher reality!
